DISCLAIMER:
Don’t worry, I’m not on some secret mission to hate or hype this movie. This is just what I honestly felt after watching it - NO FAN CLUB, NO HATE CLUB. Just me and my opinion.

When I first watched #Kantara, I didn't have any expectations and I was completely blown away by the approach of blending folklore and terrific Visuals and Acting into a very simple and common story of a Land Dispute.

Coming to Kantara: Chapter 1, Obviously I had the expectations from the previous movie….

On the Positive Side….This time the budget has been hiked and you can see the grandeur on the big screen with the story being set in a King's era. The Locations looked more realistic than the previous part. The CGI work was better than the previous part. The Cast had more familiar faces this time and everyone did an excellent job.

For Kantara, I remember how I was going bonkers about how Rishab Shetty had Written, Directed and Acted in the movie…..This time also he did it all by himself. Unfortunately what worked for me in #Kantara didn’t work for me in #KantaraChapter1

My Eyes were in for a treat of the Visual Spectacle on the Screen, but somehow that was not creating the much needed impact on my other senses 😪 And all I could think of was this as a Commercially Upgraded Version to encash the craze of #Kantara

BGM, I felt was again a Rehash Version of Kantara which failed to create much impact this time….Acting wise though Rishab Shetty was Good as usual, But this Time I always knew How his Hand and Leg movements would be and how his Facial Expressions would change whenever he is possessed. So it was as if I am watching the same Kantara performance again so the Vaaaaaaaaav feeling was missing this time.

Special Shout Out to Gulshan Devaiah who was excellent as King Kulashekara who was the only reason I didn’t think of walking out of this film with disappointment 🫡

Also if not for the individual performances by Rukmini and Jayaram, there was no scope in the story (except in climax) to elevate their characters because the movie was only and only focused on elevating Rishab

When the Sequel is named as Chapter - 1, I was expecting Rishab Shetty to dive deep into his Region’s Folklore and give us the origin story of Panjurli, Guliga, Bhoota Kola and finally how Kantara was formed……but instead he focused on exploring the story of tribal leader Berme played by Rishab himself…..

while Kantara’s execution revolved around the Land dispute and how Guliga protects Panjurli’s land and promise….with Rishab Shetty’s character moulding itself into the story flow perfectly. But in Chapter - 1 it’s all Commercial aspect of Rise and Fall and Rise of Berme and the actual story going for a toss!!!!

on a final note….. Kantara : Chapter 1 is
Too Much Quality with No Clarity

THE AUDIENCE SPEAKS
