Watched #DC: I generally stay away from the overly cooked Tamil-flavoured oppression & brutality stories…..but couldn’t control myself with all the FOMO created by the feedback from those who watched it. So much so that I had to ditch Srinu, my regular Partner in Crime for watching such movies!!!! 😜

And do I have any regret or guilt about ditching him…..absolutely not 😉 But can’t deny the fact that I would have enjoyed it even more in his company!!! Don’t worry Srinu, we will compensate with Toxicity 😉😂

Coming back to the movie….unlike the epics of Kabali or Kaala, DC is a proper oppression and fight-against-police-brutality movie, but packed into a proper commercial entertainer which somehow still feels realistic. And that’s largely because of the extraordinary effort from all the actors, cinematographer and music director 🙏

Special mention to the BGM 🤯 I feel Animal started the trend of using old songs to elevate the audience experience of a scene, which Dhurandhar bettered by using vintage & contrasting songs as BGM for violent scenes. But DC took it one step further by using classical music to elevate the emotions during violence 🫡 What a combination!!!

Initially, I was surprised to know that this movie wasn’t doing that well with the Tamil audience but clicked really well with the Telugu audience?? After watching it, I understood why.

Tamil movie lovers still cherish those raw, grounded and realistic oppression movies, whereas this one is packaged commercially. That may not have worked as much for them…..but for audiences like me, that commercial packaging is exactly what made it click 😄
