watched #THAMMUDU : Before going into my experience of the movie….let me take the opportunity to introduce you to Srinu, my Partner in Crime for Watching Movies and together we witnessed many Epics and Disasters for the past 15 odd years 🙏

While we were stepping into the AMB to watch this movie, Srinu asked me a question : Poorna, did you realise that this is the first time we are watching Nithin’s movie on a First Day!!! Can you care to explain why we are doing this?

and my answer was : I don’t know Srinu, for me even the trailer of the movie looked pretty ordinary but I had seen a few so-called Honest Interviews and Interactions between Dil Raju and Nithin which raised curiosity in me and also the fact that this movie got A certificate which they claimed justified the content of the movie raised curiosity in me to watch this movie on First day itself!!!!

And after watching this movie and while stepping out of AMB, I asked Srinu a question : Srinu, naakante siggu ledhu prathi movie ki edo oka reason chepi tempt avutha…..neekana budhi undakarla?? vadhu Poorna ani chepachu ga!!!!

and as usual Srinu never answers or reacts….he simply tried to cover up his pain with a smile on his face 🙏

Srinu and I seriously tried to search for a Psychiatrist nearby AMB to get checked if we both lost sensitivity in our hearts along with the sense of reacting emotionally because we were watching a movie which had so many emotional scenes but still neither of us was feeling any bit of it?

But later realised that it was the unique ability of the Director Sriram Venu to Direct an Emotional Movie without Emotions in it 😪

We have seen so many occasions where the so called Hollywood & OTT Movie Watchers (Self-proclaimed intellectuals) complain that Tollywood is killing interesting stories by commercialising the movie by adding unwanted Comedy, Elevations and Masala!!!

Especially they have criticised Sreeram Venu for making an out and out commercial movie MCA with Nani….and this movie and screenplay would be a slipper-shot answer to them, as they would also be begging the director to add some masala into this otherwise very Linear and non engaging storytelling. Fun Fact : He used the almost the same MCA plot to make this movie without adding any commercial formula 😂 thus giving a proper tribute to MCA!!! and the irony is Nani was supposed to play Nithin’s character but somehow he escaped 😳

Story wise the movie had full scope to be a proper commercial mass masala movie….but unfortunately for some unknown reason the Director chose to narrate this in Non Commercial Format 🙄 and please don’t be of the opinion that he could be an Offbeat Director. He is the one who directed Nani’s MCA 😂 . The very thought of Directing a Potentially Commercial Story in a Very much Non Commercial Narration should fetch Oscar for the whole Team 🫡. The very fact that the director couldn’t clearly establish if Varsha is a Lover or Good Friend of Nithin shows how confused he was!! The way he assumed that showing Heroine as Love interest of Hero is Routine commercial and hence tried to convey her as his Friend to give an Off Beat movie vibes but ended up calling her as his COMPANION (which I am yet to decode) shows how confused he was to project a simple relation 🤔

I feel pity for Nithin, as the majority of his recent movies, though having the potential to be Hits at least on paper, couldn’t give him proper success due to mishandling of the subject by the Directors. While his Robinhood flopped with overuse of commercial elements Thammudu completely lacks them 🫩. Hope he soon finds a way to balance Content with commercial elements.

Also Saurabh Sachdeva (Animal fame) is being overused by Tollywood directors…his acting and expressions which looked unique and gelled well in Animal are looking too loud and over the top in other films especially when they give him

unique behaviour without properly utilising it later

I personally feel that Laya was overrated during her times and being a Telugu Heroine only helped her and she used to choose her characters wisely to give that impression of her being an excellent artist, and that's why none of us literally missed her when she took a break from acting!!! But for a change….her comeback into movies is the only matter of interest in this whole movie 🙏

The Cinematography is Top Notch and blended well with the excellent visuals of the Forest locations which brings up my biggest question ever? Why did Manchu anna choose New Zealand Resort-type Forests over these beautiful rustic Forests shown in this movie to shoot Kannapa 🤔🤔

Also while I was wondering why this Movie got A certificate?? My Friend, Living Legend Srinu enlightened me saying that it's because the censor board wanted to save as many lives as possible from getting depressed about not getting emotional after watching an emotional movie 🙏
