GADAR 2

Watched #Gadar2 : Back in 2001 when I had just stepped into Intermediate First Year which was much much before Social Media Era….there was Euphoria about a couple of newly Released Hindi Films which was unusual in a town called Guntur in AP where it was very rare at that time for a Hindi movie to have a direct release….

Being a Teenager who had limited scope and understanding about the World and was yet to build my own perspectives about things….I loved the Innocence of Tara Singh and the Love Story between him and his Madam Ji!!!! And later in the second half got goosebumps when Tara Singh was bashing Pakistani Goons and Army with his bare hands with a little help from the iconic Hand Pump 😇

Cut to present after 22 years when Gadar 2 was announced, I was skeptical about how I would be approaching this movie as many of my sensibilities have changed along with my perspective of the world and borders and especially people of Pakistan…….I was wondering if the new movie would look cringe to me and may be it will impact my love for the Gadar 1!!!!

With all the above doubts I stepped into the theatre today already knowing what the story is about…..BUT BUT BUT after 10 - 15 mins into the movie I forgot about all my perspectives & sensibilities & logic and got completely sucked into the movie….I became restless, dying to see when Tara Singh steps into Pakistan……and once he steps in it was goosebumps as usual and I enjoyed it thoroughly and the director has played with my emotions by throwing us glimpses of Gadar 1 at crucial junctures and YES the iconic Hand Pump makes a comeback but this time with dignity 🤣

This movie is more or less a tribute to Sunny Deol who was in a series of flops in the recent decade and obviously will have flops again in the future….but Gadar 2 reminds us what he is capable of 🙏

The 2 iconic songs (Ghar Aaja Pardesi & Mein Nikala Ghadi Leke) have been retained and they still have the same magic as 22 years ago 🙏🙏

If you have watched Gadar 1 in 2001 then Gadar 2 is a must watch as it serves as a wonderful medium of that Era of Bollywood where Massy Desh Bhakth movies were a trend…..if you are a genx kid then it's better to stay away from this movie as it doesn’t suit the current generation sensibilities!!!!
