When the movie was initially announced, I was curious to see how the combination of Mass Maharaj Ravi Teja and Shiva Nirvana, who proved his strong hold on emotional sensibilities with Ninnu Kori and Majili, would work….and man, they delivered a proper MASSY EMOTIONAL movie!!!!
Having said that, there was a strong buzz that it was a remake of a Malayalam Movie. Add Ravi Teja’s recent track record and Shiva Nirvana moving away from his core strength with Tuck Jagadish and Kushi, trying to go big and failing….I was honestly not at all interested!!!!
But Thank God….or should I say Ayyappa 🙏 for Shiva Nirvana getting back to his original strength and choosing an out and out emotional script with Ravi Teja!!!!!
I am still trying to recollect when was the last time I saw Ravi Teja in such a completely author-backed role. Be it the costumes, body language or dialogue delivery, we get to see a totally different Ravi Teja….and he literally nailed it as a performer!!!!
What impressed me the most was the brilliance of the Writer in using the whole Ayyappa Deeksha angle. Right from the word go, it prepares the audience to accept this new subtle and downplayed avatar of Ravi Teja, who otherwise is known for his hyper-energetic characters!!!!
Story wise, this movie doesn’t really need the Swamy Maala backdrop at all….but the way it has been woven into the story makes Ravi Teja’s hardcore audience unknowingly accept the subtleness of his character. That, I felt, was some very thoughtful writing from Shiva Nirvana 🙏
The way Sai Kumar’s entire arc as Guruswamy was written, along with the way he performed it, made me love the movie a bit more!!!!
Priya Bhavani and Child Artist Nakshatra have done their parts perfectly and added the required emotional quotient to the movie.
Having said all this, is the movie pitch perfect without any loopholes? Definitely Not!!!! There are scenes where the logic and character arcs go for a toss….but the overall emotion and brilliant performances make us conveniently ignore those loopholes!!!!
And once again, Music by G.V. Prakash completely uplifts the mood of the movie 🙏
